Introduction:

The Jazz FM Awards are a reflection of the spirit of Jazz FM, one the world’s most renowned jazz radio stations, and the continued excitement surrounding today’s flourishing contemporary jazz scene.

The Awards are designed to celebrate the eclectic mix of jazz, blues and soul that is played and supported by the station – mainstream, straight-ahead, smooth, fusion, funk, latin and big band.

An international panel of invited nominators has put forward nominees for consideration, by a panel of jurors from Jazz FM, in each award category. The winners are decided either by the panel or through public vote and will be announced at the awards ceremony in October 2022. Further award categories will be given in the gift of Jazz FM.

The judging panel has been chosen to contain experts in various fields of jazz, soul and blues. The panel consists of six to ten respected figures from Jazz FM as well as other experts from the music industry and are representative of the jazz community right across the UK. The panel also contains a chairperson who has a deciding vote in the event of deadlock.

Those nominated have been chosen through UK and international jazz, blues and soul scenes, festivals, promoters, broadcasters, record labels and journalists from 1 June 2021 to 31 May 2022.

Audience Vote Awards – Voting Guidelines

  1. All voting is done via the website www.jazzfmawards.com (the ‘website’) or the Jazz FM Awards Alexa skill (‘Alexa vote for the Jazz FM Awards’). Please note that it is not possible to vote via any other method. You can vote for your favourite nominee, from amongst a short-list of contenders (the “Short-list”) in the relevant Audience Vote categories. Voters may vote for one (1) nominee in each of the two (2) categories indicated.
  2. The vote opening date and time is 1800 on 8th September 2022. It will close at 1800 on 26th September 2022.
  3. You can vote in two categories (UK Jazz Act of The Year and Album of the Year), but within each category you are only allowed to vote for one nominee. If you exceed the limit when voting your votes will not be counted. We are committed to operating voting fairly, and to preventing abuse of its systems, therefore we will only allow 1 vote per category per IP address (website) and/or 1 vote per category per account (Alexa). We reserve the right to disqualify votes if we have reasonable grounds to suspect, having regard to all circumstances and information available to us at the relevant time, that fraudulent voting has occurred, such that it is designed to excessively manipulate the outcome of the vote or otherwise.
  4. The result of the vote will be based on the total of all valid votes received by the closing date and time. Please note that votes that have been sent but not received or not validated by the closing date and time will not be counted. The winners of each of the categories will be announced at the Jazz FM Awards. In the event of a tie, i.e. where two or more nominees receive joint highest votes, then the winner will be at the discretion of the judging panel that may decide to award a joint prize.
  5. In the event of a technical failure or other circumstance beyond our reasonable control that affects the vote, or any other decision which the vote would have determined, we will calculate the outcome of the vote having regard to all circumstances and information available to us at the relevant time.
  6. We do not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure, interruption or malfunction or any other problem which may result in any votes not being properly received, heard, registered or recorded, or for any votes incorrectly addressed, or lost in transit or for any irregularities, industrial action, or other disruption in the postal service, and we will not be held liable in any such event.
